The gold standard in residential window film. Targets and rejects infrared heat and UV without changing the look of your windows — from inside or outside. The best of all worlds in a single film.
A reflective exterior provides strong daytime privacy and maximum heat rejection. The less-reflective interior preserves your outward view and reduces the “mirror” effect at night.
Add privacy and elegance to any glass surface without sacrificing light. Ideal for bathrooms, sidelights, front doors, and interior glass partitions where privacy matters but darkness doesn’t.

Not at all. Modern spectrally selective films are engineered to reject heat and UV without significantly reducing visible light. Most of our customers are surprised by how clear and bright their rooms remain after installation. The goal is comfort and protection — not darkness.
Yes, but wait 30 days after installation before cleaning to allow the film to fully cure. After that, clean with a soft cloth or rubber squeegee and a mild, ammonia-free window cleaner. Avoid abrasive scrubbers or anything with ammonia, as these can damage the film's surface over time.
Most residential jobs are completed in a single day. The exact time depends on the number of windows, their size, and the type of film being installed. We'll give you a clear time estimate when you book, and we work efficiently to minimize disruption to your household.
It depends on the plant and the film. Most spectrally selective films allow the majority of visible light to pass through, which is what plants use for photosynthesis. UV-blocking films do reduce UV, which some plants use minimally. In practice, most common houseplants are unaffected. We can discuss your specific situation and recommend a film that balances your comfort with your plants' needs.
Yes, with some important considerations. Certain highly reflective films can cause heat buildup in dual-pane (insulated glass unit) windows, which can potentially damage the seal. We only recommend films that are rated and tested for dual-pane applications. Johnson Window Films has specific products designed for dual-pane glass, and we'll always confirm compatibility before recommending a film for your home.
In almost all residential applications, the film is applied to the interior surface of the glass. This protects the film from weather, UV degradation, and physical damage, which is why interior-applied films last significantly longer and carry a lifetime warranty. Exterior films are available for specific situations where interior application isn't possible.
Most HOAs allow window film, especially spectrally selective films that are virtually invisible from the outside. However, highly reflective or mirrored films may require approval. We recommend checking your HOA guidelines before scheduling. We can provide product samples and spec sheets to help you get approval if needed.

Residential and automotive films serve the same core purpose but are engineered differently. Automotive films are designed for curved glass, high-heat environments inside a vehicle, and must comply with state tinting laws. Residential films are designed for flat architectural glass, larger surface areas, and long-term performance in a fixed installation. Using automotive film on home windows — or vice versa — is not recommended and will void any warranty.
